Last night I had the best time at a concert than I have in a while. Those of you who know me, know that I have spent a ridiculous amount of money on shows in my lifetime so this says a lot. Phil and I went to see Tiki Taane at the Hi-Fi in Melbourne. He is an artist from New Zealand whose music is a blend of Maori traditional music with heavy bass/rap/hip-hop/electronica and throw in the occasional reggae. It was just an amazing energy that filled the fairly small venue.
His band made the show a very different experience from what you hear on the cd. The bass vibrated through you. His father, a guest vocalist, brought the traditional Maori to life and it was great to see him rock out too! We danced the night away and all I know is that my body was sore when I woke up. It was a great show that made the soreness worth it!
